Earlier this year a Gallup poll showed an immense political gender gap between 18- to 29-year-old women and men, driven mainly by young women turning sharply left. The quickest, simplest explanation for this development is that the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision on abortion targets them disproportionately.
It’s more than Dobbs, because globally women are moving sharply left while men are moving modestly right.
Whatever the reason, moving left means that they will align more with us Democrats than with elsewhere on the political spectrum in most cases.
We need to welcome them with open arms to our mutual benefit.
