Protect the Results is a coalition of 100+ organizations committed to ensuring the upcoming US election is free, fair, and transparent. The coalition, led by Indivisible and Stand Up America, is pre- organizing hundreds of protests across the country in the event that Donald Trump contests the election results, refuses to concede after losing, or claims victory before all the votes are counted.
We are assembling a team of mediamakers to help amplify the message of the protests and we need your help.
The Protect the Results Story Team is looking for volunteers to support this effort in the following ways:
We are seeking videographers/visual journalists to document Protect the Results (PTR) actions in a compelling and thoughtful way. In the field, videographers will be asked to upload their footage to a secure portal through a secure video crowdsourcing platform. Volunteers do not need to have professional experience and can document the protests on their phones or with their own camera.
We will be connecting videographers with PTR event hosts and media liaisons, and providing an online training (Oct 29) and toolkit for all videographers. Videographers will be needed on Nov 4, and also likely in the days and possibly weeks that follow, should the need for public protest be ongoing.
Anyone interested in volunteering as a videographer should complete the PTR Videographer Sign-Up Form.
We are seeking volunteers to review and organize video after it has been uploaded to the platform. Reviewers will be responsible for sorting and tagging crowdsourced video so it can be shared quickly with local and national media. All reviewing will be done online. Reviewers will also receive training (time & date TBD).
Beginning on Nov 4, volunteers will review footage from PTR protests. As these actions will likely be ongoing, reviewers will likely be needed in the days and weeks following the election.
Anyone interested in volunteering as a reviewer should complete the PTR Reviewer Sign-Up Form.
It is important that we not allow the narrative about popular protest to be distorted. By thoughtfully documenting these actions and providing media with the tools to represent them honestly and with sufficient context, we can keep the focus on the message: that our democracy is worth protecting and that every vote must be counted.
To pull this off, we will need to mobilize hundreds of videographers and reviewers in less than two weeks. Please share this information with trusted friends and colleagues. We ask that you do not post it publicly on social media or online. Thank you for helping to recruit mediamakers in your community for this effort!
