ExComm Elections coming up in June 2024

From the DDems ByLaws:

Officers of the Executive Board shall be elected at the June meeting in even-numbered years and shall hold office for four years or until successors are elected. In order to provide continuity of leadership, officers will be elected in alternating elections. During the gubernatorial election year, the Chairperson, the Township ViceChairperson, the Assistant Treasurer, and the Recording Secretary will be elected. In the alternating even-numbered year, the Borough Vice Chairperson, the Treasurer, and the Corresponding Secretary will be elected. Officers are to be elected for no more than two terms.

...

The Executive Board and all committees shall be as equally divided as practicable between men and women (determined by gender self-identification) meaning that the variance between men and women in the group cannot exceed one. In the case of gender non-binary delegates or committee members, they shall not be counted as either a male or female and the remainder of the delegation shall be equally divided. For example, if all officers identify as male or female, it should be split 3-2 either way or if one officer identifies as non-binary, the remaining four officers should be split 2-2 between male and female officers.

The Process:

Nominations will be solicited at the March and April General Meetings of the DDems and announced at the May meeting. Elections will be at the June meeting. There will be a nominating committee to vet candidates, but will make no endorsements.

Projection and Confession is all Trump knows

This piece from the Washington Post has aged extremely well!

Trump thinks Biden pulled a scam in Ukraine because it’s what Trump would have done

— by Elizabeth Spiers, September 24, 2019

Everything President Trump accuses his opponents of doing can be understood in one of two ways: as projection or a confession.

Trump has to convince himself and his supporters that his worst qualities and misdeeds are somehow eclipsed by the faults and misdeeds of others, however fictional, implausible or easily refuted by readily available evidence. He knows he can continue to be evil, as long as he is the lesser evil. To be the lesser evil, greater demons must be conjured up from thin air.

But the weakness of this particular tactic is it demonstrates how shallow Trump’s imagination is. His “everybody does it!” nihilism is not indicative of a complex and cynical worldview. Trump simply assumes everyone else does it because it is what he would do.

So if he wakes up tomorrow and accuses Joe Biden of trying to act like a tough guy, of selling out America in exchange for small-stakes business advantages and being “low IQ” — all of which Trump has already done — it will not be any reflection on Biden. (Coming soon, no doubt: Joe Biden cheats at golf!) It will just be another contour in the cartography of Trump’s own guilt and self-loathing. Projection, again, and a confession.
