Chris
Asplen was raised in Bucks County from the age of 6 and graduated from
Pennsbury High School. After attending West Chester University, where
he was appointed by Governor Thornburgh to the University’s Council of
Trustees, he attended the Dickinson School of Law of Penn State
University. After interning in the Bucks County DA’s Office in the
summer of 1988 he accepted an offer from then District Attorney Alan
Rubenstein to become an Assistant District Attorney for Bucks County.
Assigned
to the Sex Crimes and Child Abuse unit for the entire length of his
career under Rubenstein, he was also assigned to the Grand Jury Unit
and as Chief of the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition Unit. During
his tenure in the DA’s Office, he was an active trial attorney trying
homicide, attempted homicide, vehicular homicide, rape, robbery,
corruption and other cases.
Asplen has an extensive history of
working with victims and victims’ advocates. For several years, Chris
has been an active faculty member for the nation’s largest victim
advocacy organization, the National Center for Victims of Crime. He has
also contributed his time and expertise to the Surviving Parents
Network and has partnered with America’s Most Wanted’s John Walsh and
victim advocate Jayann Sepich to educate law makers and police about
the power of DNA evidence in fighting crime.
Asplen
subsequently became the director the DNA Legal Assistance Unit for the
National District Attorney’s Association. Asplen was then appointed by
the Director of the US Department of Justice’s National Institute of
Justice to be the Executive Director of the National Commission on the
Future of DNA Evidence.
Today Asplen is one of the world's
leading authorities on the use of DNA. He brings exceptional vision,
discipline and experience to the challenge of running the District
Attorney's office.
HARRY HEINZL FOR CONTROLLER
Harry
Heinzl currently works for the Office of the Auditor General of
Pennsylvania. He serves the Commonwealth as an auditor of municipal
pensions for the southeast region.
Heinzl has an extensive
financial accounting background that ideally suits him to the office of
County Controller. He devoted 8 years as an adjunct instructor of
accounting and economics at the local college level; served 14 years as
a cost analyst at the former Naval Air Warfare Center, Warminster; and
worked for 3 years as a computer programmer for the Federal Reserve
Bank of Philadelphia.
He graduated from Drexel University and
then attended Temple University where he received a Master’s of
Business Administration degree in Economics. He moved to Buckingham
Township in 1978 where he and Nancy, his wife of 43 years live. Heinzl
is the father of two grown children, John and Grayce, and is a
Vietnam-era veteran of the U.S. Army (1968-1970) where he held a Top
Secret Crypto security clearance.
His platform as a controller
candidate is to be a full-time Department Executive; a watchdog of
taxpayer monies; and, especially in these times of economic recession,
see to it that county government spends only those funds which are
absolutely necessary to be spent on behalf of the citizens of Bucks
County.
ROBIN ROSENTHAL FOR RECORDER OF DEEDS
Robin
Rosenthal has over 20 years of management experience and has focused a
considerable amount of her professional career on providing customer
service excellence and expertise. She was a real estate agent for 5
years and worked for a Bucks County title company for 6 years.
Currently
Rosenthal serves the people of Bucks County in her capacity as
Executive Assistant to County Commissioner Diane Marseglia. She
previously served as a County Row officer when she held the position of
Bucks County Jury Commissioner.
As Commissioner Marseglia's
assistant, Rosenthal is extremely familiar with the entire operation of
the county courthouse and its various departments. Her professional
work in the field of real estate and titles has prepared her
specifically for the duties of County Recorder of Deeds.
Rosenthal
graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in
Communications and a Business Minor. She has been married 23 years to
Mark Rosenthal and has two children, Sam (16) and Emma (13) in the
public school system. She is extremely proud to that her World War II
veteran mom lives with her and her family in Buckhingham.
WILEY HERRING FOR SHERIFF
Wiley
Herring is a veteran Bucks County Deputy Sheriff having served in the
department for 20 years. In addition he served the Borough of Tullytown
for 23 years as a part-time police officer.
Herring completed
the Police Academy program (Act 120) at Temple University and Deputy
Sheriff Training (Act 2) at The Dickinson School of Law.
He has
been a licensed pilot for 20 years and, prior to beginning his law
enforcement career, worked at US Steel for 17 years. As a current
Deputy Sheriff, Herring brings a wealth of experience to the challenges
of running Bucks County’s Sheriff’s Department.
