CHRIS ASPLEN FOR DISTRICT ATTORNEY

• Senior Deputy District Attorney, Bucks County
• Assistant United States Attorney, Washington, DC
• Director National Commission on the Future of DNA Evidence
• Director DNA Unit, National District Attorney’s Association

• Awarded the US Attorney General’s Award for Contributions to Public Safety
• United States Department of Justice Representative to White House Initiative on Law Enforcement Technology
• Chief Faculty member for the President’s Initiative on DNA Training for Officers of the Court
• Member of the Board of Advisors for the John Jay College of Criminal Justice’s Center for Modern Forensic Practice

Chris Asplen was raised in Bucks County from the age of 6 and graduated from Pennsbury High School. After attending West Chester University, where he was appointed by Governor Thornburgh to the University’s Council of Trustees, he attended the Dickinson School of Law of Penn State University. After interning in the Bucks County DA’s Office in the summer of 1988 he accepted an offer from then District Attorney Alan Rubenstein to become an Assistant District Attorney for Bucks County.

Assigned to the Sex Crimes and Child Abuse unit for the entire length of his career under Rubenstein, he was also assigned to the Grand Jury Unit and as Chief of the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition Unit. During his tenure in the DA’s Office, he was an active trial attorney trying homicide, attempted homicide, vehicular homicide, rape, robbery, corruption and other cases.

Asplen has an extensive history of working with victims and victims’ advocates. For several years, Chris has been an active faculty member for the nation’s largest victim advocacy organization, the National Center for Victims of Crime. He has also contributed his time and expertise to the Surviving Parents Network and has partnered with America’s Most Wanted’s John Walsh and victim advocate Jayann Sepich to educate law makers and police about the power of DNA evidence in fighting crime.

Asplen subsequently became the director the DNA Legal Assistance Unit for the National District Attorney’s Association. Asplen was then appointed by the Director of the US Department of Justice’s National Institute of Justice to be the Executive Director of the National Commission on the Future of DNA Evidence.

Today Asplen is one of the world's leading authorities on the use of DNA. He brings exceptional vision, discipline and experience to the challenge of running the District Attorney's office.

HARRY HEINZL FOR CONTROLLER

Harry Heinzl currently works for the Office of the Auditor General of Pennsylvania. He serves the Commonwealth as an auditor of municipal pensions for the southeast region.

Heinzl has an extensive financial accounting background that ideally suits him to the office of County Controller. He devoted 8 years as an adjunct instructor of accounting and economics at the local college level; served 14 years as a cost analyst at the former Naval Air Warfare Center, Warminster; and worked for 3 years as a computer programmer for the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia.

He graduated from Drexel University and then attended Temple University where he received a Master’s of Business Administration degree in Economics. He moved to Buckingham Township in 1978 where he and Nancy, his wife of 43 years live. Heinzl is the father of two grown children, John and Grayce, and is a Vietnam-era veteran of the U.S. Army (1968-1970) where he held a Top Secret Crypto security clearance.

His platform as a controller candidate is to be a full-time Department Executive; a watchdog of taxpayer monies; and, especially in these times of economic recession, see to it that county government spends only those funds which are absolutely necessary to be spent on behalf of the citizens of Bucks County.

ROBIN ROSENTHAL FOR RECORDER OF DEEDS

Robin Rosenthal has over 20 years of management experience and has focused a considerable amount of her professional career on providing customer service excellence and expertise. She was a real estate agent for 5 years and worked for a Bucks County title company for 6 years.

Currently Rosenthal serves the people of Bucks County in her capacity as Executive Assistant to County Commissioner Diane Marseglia. She previously served as a County Row officer when she held the position of Bucks County Jury Commissioner.

As Commissioner Marseglia's assistant, Rosenthal is extremely familiar with the entire operation of the county courthouse and its various departments. Her professional work in the field of real estate and titles has prepared her specifically for the duties of County Recorder of Deeds.

Rosenthal graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Communications and a Business Minor. She has been married 23 years to Mark Rosenthal and has two children, Sam (16) and Emma (13) in the public school system. She is extremely proud to that her World War II veteran mom lives with her and her family in Buckhingham.

WILEY HERRING FOR SHERIFF

Wiley Herring is a veteran Bucks County Deputy Sheriff having served in the department for 20 years. In addition he served the Borough of Tullytown for 23 years as a part-time police officer.

Herring completed the Police Academy program (Act 120) at Temple University and Deputy Sheriff Training (Act 2) at The Dickinson School of Law.

He has been a licensed pilot for 20 years and, prior to beginning his law enforcement career, worked at US Steel for 17 years. As a current Deputy Sheriff, Herring brings a wealth of experience to the challenges of running Bucks County’s Sheriff’s Department.
